Plan a monthly budget with income, fixed and variable costs and savings goals, see the breakdown as a chart, and export a PDF.
List your monthly income, fixed costs such as rent and insurance, variable spending and savings goals, and the planner shows what is left and how the month divides up. Export it as a PDF to keep or share.
Making a budget that holds
Start from take-home pay, not salary. Put savings in as a fixed cost paid first, not whatever is left at the end of the month. Base variable categories on what you actually spent in the last two or three months, then adjust.
If a loan payment is one of your fixed costs, the loan amortization schedule shows how much of each payment is interest and what an extra payment each month saves.
For the business side, a balance sheet adds up what you own and owe on one date and checks that it balances.
Frequently asked questions
What is the 50/30/20 rule?
A rule of thumb that splits take-home pay into 50% needs, 30% wants and 20% savings or debt repayment. It is a starting point, not a requirement.
